One day, while procrastination on A LOT of english homework (Believe me, a lot of homework) I decided to sit down and talk to my dad and his friends. We started to talk about politics, religion, society, teenagers, school, etc etc. They were amazing at home mature a 15 year old could be. I took that as somewhat of a compliment. They just think it's hard to find a teenager now a days that likes to read books, listen to classical music, doesn't watch tv, live in volunteer places, and willingly shop at second hand stores. He made me read out this religion assignment I had to do. It was based on Martin Luther King's speach, I Have A Dream. He was impressed and told me to upload it anywhere public. Here's to you;
I HAVE A DREAM
I remember this clearly. When I was a little girl I had a doll house. Hours and hours, Id spend putting my dolls through whole lifetimes. Work, kids, play. All that happened in that little house. I remember that perfectly. The rest, its a little fuzzy. You see, I left it outside for a couple days. When I went back to play with it, wasps have built a nest in my dollhouse. It looked like a twisted apple or something. Back then, it was scary. Terrifying. However, I remember thinking, in a little girl way, that just like my dolls; wasps needed a place to sleep too. Ever since then, I have had a different way of thinking. I then began to think about the world in a whole new way. I imagined, of a world so perfect. A world so peaceful. My mother mocked me and told me that I was foolish. I would rehearse the lines from the song, Imagine, by John Lennon. Pictures and poems Id write and draw inspired by that song. Sadly, I went to a very catholic school and telling kids to imagine of a world with no religion would get me in quite a bit of trouble. I never gave up on that dream world. A world where people are not afraid and are not living in fear of going to heaven or hell, but a world where people are living life just for today and just being so happy in doing so. A world where there are no borders to cross. A world where there is only one country and we all treat each other like one giant community. Then there would be no war. There would be no starvation. Money wouldnt be as big as a deal as it is. There would be less pain and agony. Along with no religions to argue over and create big wars over. All these people would live in peace. A world with no possession would create no jealousy, greed, or hunger. Sadly, when people think of that, politicians jump to conclusion and believe that people are advertising some sort of socialism/communism and brainwash people right back to track. The thought of owning the same things as everyone else seems not at all bad to me. Everyone would be equal and there would be no need for robbing. Also, no religions means that men and women would be equal and there would be no law to approve women to be raped in the middle east. No religions would also eliminate a lot of conflict in the world. A world with no country would take away so many things. War is a major one because there would be no need to fight your own country. A world where everyone lives for today would take away the need to do stupid things like put someone down, rape, or abuse. From those simple lines, so many things can flourish. Yes, many people call me a dreamer just as they called John Lennon a dreamer. I know somewhere out there, there are people just like him and I. Perhaps, one day, somehow, I will live that life. It can be today, or it may be tomorrow. Till then, I have a dream, that dream is to live in peace.
Thanks so soo much for all the
I really appreciate it!!!!
